2009-2010 Program Priorities

  1. Prepare for Federal Review scheduled for upcoming year
  2. Implement year 2 of Early Reading First
  3. Complete 2008-2010 Strategic Plan and develop 2010-2012 Strategic Plan in summer of 2010
  4. Implementation of 2009-2010 Training Plan - focusing on Early Reading First, online trainings and individual professional development plans
  5. Complete program's first Annual Report and share with parents and communities
  6. Increase focus on new staff training and supportĀ - implementation of staff orientation plans
  7. Transition Head Start services from Drake to Anamoose - facility renovations, playground equipment and new contracts
  8. Find alternative facilities in Bottineau and Rugby providing additioanl space
  9. Expand program information and services to welcome families of second language in Towner
  10. New projects in Devils Lake - Contracts and Management of Pre-Kindergarten classrooms, Teen Parenting Program, Parent Resource Center and opening toddler combination room
  11. Intense focus on fiscal operations - staff education and participation, scrutiny of budget, obtaining outside grant dollars and benefits from grantee co-op purchasing
  12. Enhance technology to increase staff and parent communication - Update program public website and utilize Early Readng First equipment and resources
  13. Expand focus on paren involvement - parent education/parent meeting attendance, inkind and active participation in children's individual education plans
  14. Increase staff and managers skills in data analysis of Galileo and Early Reading First assessments and reports to assist in classroom and progrma planning including professional development, staff evaluation, parent involvement, budget development and ongoing monitoring systems
  15. Implementation of the Head Start Reauthoriztion regulations
  16. Focus on collaborative efforts with school districts in providing Title I Pre-Kindergarten Services, transitions to Kindergarten and partnerships in parent education
  17. Identify new partnerships and opportunities to expand the quality of services and resources including focus on special initiatives provided through outside grants - Spark - Literacy Project, Little Voices for Healthy Choices and Let Me Play
