| Services
to pregnant women/expectant parents are individualized to meet the
unique needs of each pregnant woman. Establishing a medical
home and encouraging women to access other prenatal programs such
as WIC and prenatal classes where available is a key focus. Expectant parents
will recieve information through the prenatal curriculum and other
resources on prenatal and early infancy, including brain development,
bonding/attachment and infant massage upon request. |

Early Explorers presents
opportunites and information as it relates to pregnancy:
- Fetal development
utilizing charts and resources to keep parents up to date on the
baby's development, encouraging healthy habits and choices. "Partners
for a Healthy Baby - Before Baby Arrives" from Florida University's
Center for Prevention and Early Intervention serves as the foundation
of the prenatal program.
- Health information
is provided through informational handouts and resources focusing

of the baby, nutritional experiences continue to occur introducing

the importance of the family meal time. The WIC guidelines guide
all nutritional experiences.
- Birth plans are developed
to assist the parent with the transition of a new family member.
Some activities include breathing techniques during labor, labor
coach, breast-feeding supports, finding quality child care providers
and helping siblings welcome a new baby.
- The program prenatal
consultant supports parents with prenatal/neonatal experience
and lactation (breastfeeding) guidance. The prenatal consultant
will accompany family visitors on regular visits once a month
or more frequent as requested, to address health issues and questions.
