Sparkle Award Program

The purpose of the annual Sparkle Award Program is to encourage parent groups to work together on a project to help others and promote Head Start/Early Head Start in their communities.

The Sparkle Activity is time filled with sharing, planning and hopefully fun. We would like every group to participate in this activity. In the past some of the groups have:

  • Cleaned their city park and/or planted a tree
  • Collecting pop tops for the Ronald McDonald House
  • Delivered meals on wheels to homebound persons
  • Picked up garbage along the roadside
  • Made cards and delivered them to nursing home residents
  • Collected food for the local food pantry
  • Collected children’s books for the hospital or clinic waiting rooms
  • Made homemade items (mittens, blankets) for local shelters
  • Collected new and next-to-new toys for local shelters
  • Adopted a needy family through a holiday season

In order to do a Sparkle Award activity your group must complete the Sparkle Award form and submit it to the Policy Council. Upon approval, you may complete your project, then submit a Sparkle Completed form to the Policy Council. Your group will then be given $25.00 to use as your group wishes.

All Sparkle approvals must be submitted to the Policy Council between their September and February meetings and completed before the end of March of each program year.

The Policy Council looks forward to reviewing your creative ideas for Sparkling in your community. Good Luck.
